About CSA International's Certified Product Listings
CSA's Certified Product Listings are a valuable resource for companies
that manufacture or buy certified products and components. It is comprised of all CSA certified
products and or components.
The Certified Product Listings enables you to:
- Search by directory, customer information or certification record information;
- Search for records using keyword search capability (e.g. for the
word "photocopier" within Certification Records);
- Search by combination of any of the above (e.g. keyword "photocopier", country Canada. This
search would return all certification records for photocopiers certified in Canada.);
- Search a retrieved document using Ctrl + F to find a keyword within a
Certification Record or Class Description listing);
- View and print Certification Records and Class Descriptions
Key Terms
File Number
The file number corresponds to the CSA International customer file number.
This file number may appear on certified products preceded by "LR", "LL" or "LM" and may also be known
as the Master Contract.
Certification Record
A client's record of CSA certified products by class number. It includes
information on product classification and identification, characteristics, use parameters, and related
information
Class Description
A broad category of similar products. For example,
'REFRIGERATING MACHINES-Accessories', 'WATER HEATERS-Heat Pump Heated', 'AIR CLEANERS-Electrostatic'.
Class Number
Unique number assigned to each class. See Class Description definition.
Trademark
The trademark and trade name index lists CSA recognized trademarks and trade names
that appear on CSA certified products in lieu of the company name and/or file number.
Finding Certification Record information:
A) Searching using customer specific information
- In the 'Choose Directory' field, select the appropriate directory from the drop down menu
(if you are uncertain of the specific directory, leave All Directories selected)
- Enter customer Name, Province/ State, and/or Country information if known (entering
as much information as possible will reduce the search time and return results more quickly)
- Click the 'Search' button
The results will be displayed in table format on the lower half of the screen.
To display a more detailed view of a record, click on the company name. Within the detailed view of the selected
record, the vertical scroll bar can be used to navigate and view the record in its entirety. To close the pop up
window and return to your original search results, click on the X in the top right hand corner of the window.
B) Searching using certification record information
- In the 'Choose Directory' field, select the appropriate directory from the drop down menu

Keyword Search (entering as much information as possible will reduce the search time and return
results more quickly)

Finding Trademark Information
- Enter Company name in the Name field (if the correct spelling of the company name is unknown
use the asterisk '*' symbol in place of unknown characters)
- Click the 'Search' button
Search results are displayed in the table that appears.
Finding Class Description Information
- Fill in one or more of the following fields: Class Number, Class Description,
Keyword Search (entering as much information as possible will reduce the search time
and return results more quickly)
- Click the 'Search' button
The results will be displayed in table format on the lower half
of the screen. If you wish to view all certification records in a particular class, click
'Show Certification Records'. If you wish to view the Class Description, click the Class
Number. Within the detailed view of the selected record, the vertical scroll bar can be used
to navigate and view the record in its entirety. To close the pop up window and return to your
original search results, click on the X in the top right hand corner of the window.
Tips for Keyword Search
- Use root forms of words
- Use asterisks for unknown characters. i.e - print*, when searching
for the word 'printer', 'printing', etc.
Using Multiple Criteria to optimize search
- To find out about all CSA tested printers in Japan, key the word 'Japan' in the
Country field and printer in keyword search field.
- To narrow the scope of the search, select a specific directory.

1. How do I navigate through a search?
- Click on one of the menu options at the top of the screen to bring up the search screen.
- Type in the text into the field you are searching on, and press Enter.
- A table will appear the lower half of the screen displaying the results of the search.
To see a more detailed view of a record, click your mouse on the hyperlink.
- Use the vertical scroll on the right of the screen to navigate through the detailed record.
- Click the X in the top right hand corner of the screen to go back to the screen displaying all the records.
2. What can I do to speed up my search?
- Ensure that you select the appropriate directory.
- Try searching with multiple criteria first. This is a quick method of eliminating the
number of records that need to be queried.
3. Can I search for variants of, for example, a
submittor name?
- Use the asterisk (*) symbol in place characters.
- For example, when searching for variants for the submittor IBM, simply use IBM*.
4. How do I print documents from CSA
Certified Product Listings?
- Once you have selected and viewed the specific Certification Record or Class description,
use the print function within your browser to print.
5. How do I exit from CSA Certified Product Listings?
- To exit completely from CSA Certified Product Listings, click the X in the top right
hand corner of your browser.
6. How current is the information in CSA
Certified Product Listings?
- The Web listing is completely up to date and is refreshed nightly. It replaces all previous
listings produced by CSA International.
