COVERAGE:

Stand alone, permanently connected, devices and instruments for the control, measurement and recording of industrial processes, such as detectors, indicators, integrators, recorders, analyzers, transmitters, transducers, telemetry, programmable controllers and signal processors. The process variables involved can include all of those requiring control, such as temperature, pressure, pH, voltage, flow rates, humidity, volume, size, capacitance, light levels, etc.. Devices may also be components for use in other certified equipment, including rack or panel mounted and may be cord-connected or permanently-connected.

This category does not include custom-built apparatus, research and scientific laboratory equipment, cord-connected stand alone equipment, or equipment covered by other CSA Standards.

The Certified equipment appearing in this classification is judged to comply with the applicable requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code, C22.1 (CEC) and the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC).

NOTES:

Components and rack-mounted equipment are certified only for installation in other certified equipment or in racks or cabinets where the suitability of the final installation is to be determined by the local inspection authority.
Open-type equipment is certified only for use in complete assemblies where the suitability of the combination is subject to further investigation.

complete electrical rating;
date code or equivalent;
additional markings as may be required;
CSA Monogram.

In addition, equipment intended for display, sale or use in the USA, is required to include other information such as warning statements, installation instructions, etc., as may be specified in the NEC.
