ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANTS-

COVERAGE:

Stationary and portable, gasoline engine-driven, diesel engine-driven, gas turbine-driven and tractor-driven electric generators, associated accessories and controls (which may be separately located) and any load connecting devices (e.g. receptacles) which may be provided.

This category does not include electric generating plants for recreational vehicles or auxiliary electric generating plants for use in over highway vehicles (e.g. commercial trucks). See equipment list.

The requirements cover electrical safety only of the equipment.

NOTES:

In the case of large electric-generating plants, the prime mover, generator and associated controls may be supplied separately for field assembly where the suitability of the final installation is to be determined by the local inspection authority.
Portable electric-generating plants may be supplied without special purpose enclosures, for use in a weather protected area.
Portable engine-driven electric-generating plants are for use only in a well ventilated area.

MARKING:

All marking required by CSA must be permanent, legible, and located where readily accessible for review after installation of the equipment. The contents consist of:

submittor's identification;
model designation or equivalent;
complete electrical rating;
date code or equivalent;
"FOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT ONLY/POUR MATERIEL ELECTRIQUE SEULEMENT" or equivalent wording where applicable;
"FOR USE IN A WEATHER PROTECTED AREA ONLY/EMPLOYEZ UNIQUEMENT DANS UN EMPLACEMENT A L'ABRI DES INTEMPERIES" or equivalent wording where applicable;
"FOR USE IN A WEATHER PROTECTED WELL VENTILATED AREA/EMPLOYEZ UNIQUEMENT DANS UN EMPLACEMENT A L'ABRI DES INTEMPERIES ET BIEN AERE" or equivalent wording where applicable;
additional markings as may be required by the applicable Standards for specific models or usages;
CSA Monogram with the indicator "Electrical Safety Only" or the above wording "For Electrical Equipment only".

The marking method consists of a data plate or plates or equally permanent marking applied at the factory.
