CLASS NUMBER: 4652-04 DESCRIPTION:SWITCHES-Miscellaneous

COVERAGE:

Switch units, open, for use in panelboards and switchboards including: switches where the removal of a pull-out member is designed to accomplish a switching operation (i.e. Pullout Switches), circuit interrupters, non-automatic types and magnetic trip types (i.e. Instantaneous Trip Circuit Breakers/Motor Circuit Protectors); photo-electric light controls; other non-automatic switches for which there is no other specific category e.g. Cam switches without horsepower ratings.

This category does not include snap and tumbler switches, manual transfer switches, circuit-breakers, moulded case switches, manual motor controllers, supplementary protectors, switches having features (other than fuses) intended for the starting and protection of motors, switches that have enclosed with them fuse-terminals for more than 4 branch-circuits, devices in which the pulling of fuses limit switches, proximity switches, pressure switches, solid state switching devices, pilot devices, thermally operated switching devices.

The Certified equipment appearing in this classification is judged to comply with the applicable requirements of the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC).

Notes

  1. Open type switches are Certified for use only as components for use in other equipment where the suitability of the combination is to be determined.
  2. Equipment listed in this class shall be identified for their specific intended function, e.g. Manual lighting duty contactor etc.
  3. Effective March 1, 2008 all switches listed in Class 4652 04 are not suitable for use as a disconnect or isolating switch in accordance with Rules 14-402 and 28-602 of C22.1 (The Canadian Electrical Code, Part I).

MARKING:

In addition, equipment intended for display, sale or use in the USA is required to include other information such as warning statements, installation instructions, etc., as may be specified in the NEC.
