COVERAGE:

Footwear offering the following protections:

Toe protection: two grades (1 and 2) being offered, with grade 1 offering the most protection;
Sole penetration protection: Optional;
Metatarsal protection: Optional;
Electric shock resistance ("ESR") (dielectric protection): Optional;
Static dissipative footwear ("SD"): Optional;
Electrically conductive footwear: Optional;
Chain saw protective footwear: Optional
Slip-resisting footwear: Optional.

Certified footwear is described by basic construction and its outsole rather than the upper style numbers used in the trade as the latter are subject to constant change.

Note: Footwear offering the optional Chainsaw protection shall have Grade 1 Toe Protection, and Sole Penetration protection, in addition to the chain saw protection.

Protective Footwear

MARKING:

A permanent, serialized, black on white certification label applied under the top portion of the tongue or the inside edge of the right shoe or boot containing the CSA Monogram
A permanent marking under the top portion of the tongue or in a conspicuous location containing the following information:
-    manufacturer's or listee's name, tradename or trademark or tradename and "LM -------";
-    outsole construction style or name;
-    month and year of manufacture.
-    footwear size.

Additional marking(s) as follows:

(a) Footwear with toe protection only:

A 12 by 15 mm rectangular blue (Grade 1) or gray (Grade 2) marker incorporating the CSA Monogram sewn or otherwise permanently attached to the outside of the right boot or shoe.

(b) Footwear with toe protection and sole penetration protection: (with or without integrated metatarsal protection):

A green (Grade 1) or yellow (Grade 2) equilateral triangle incorporating the CSA Monogram sewn or otherwise permanently attached to the right boot or shoe upper or tongue.

A rectangular white patch sewn, embossed, or otherwise permanently attached on the outside of the right boot or shoe with the Greek letter "omega" and the CSA Monogram, both in orange. The patch shall measure approximately 16 by 25mm; and
A printed label or tag attached to the footwear that states "WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK RESISTANCE DETERIORATES RAPIDLY IN A WET ENVIRONMENT AND WITH WEAR" and "AVERTISSEMENT: LA RESISTANCE AUX CHOCS ELECTRIQUES SE DETERIORE RAPIDEMETN EN MILIEU HUMIDE ET AVEC L'USURE".

(d) Static-dissipative footwear:

A rectangular patch, sewn, embossed, or otherwise permanently attached on the outside of the right boot or shoe. The patch shall have a fluorescent yellow background and shall measure approximately 16 by 25mm. The patch shall be permanently marked with a prominent green "SD" notation. The patch shall show an electrical grounding symbol as well as the CSA Monogram, both in green and below the "SD" notation. Static-dissipative footwear incorporating toe protection will also bear the applicable blue (Grade 1) and gray (Grade 2) rectangular marker outlined in (a) above.

(e) Conductive footwear:

A rectangular patch sewn, embossed, or otherwise permanently attached on the outside of the right boot or shoe. The patch shall be red and shall measure approximately 16 by 25mm. The patch shall be permanently marked with a black "C" with an electrical grounding symbol and the CSA Monogram; and
A printed label or tag attached to the footwear that states "WARNING: THIS FOOTWEAR SHOULD NOT BE USED IN AREAS WHERE THERE IS HAZARD OF ELECTRIC DISCHARGE" and "AVERTISSEMENT: CETTE CHAUSSURE NE DOIT PAS ETRE PORTEE DANS DES ENDROITS OU IL Y A RISQUE DE DECHARGE ELECTRIQUE".

(f) Chainsaw protective footwear:

A rectangular patch sewn, embossed, or otherwise permanently attached on the outside of the right boot or shoe. The patch shall be white and shall measure approximately 16 by 25 mm. The patch shall be permanently marked with a green fir tree symbol and the CSA Monogram.
A green (Grade 1) equilateral triangle incorporating the CSA Monogram sewn or otherwise permanently attached to the right boot or shoe upper or tongue.

(g) Slip-resisting footwear:

On the packaging or on a label affixed to the footwear, identification of the six mean coefficients of friction attained during testing.
On a hang-tag, the packaging, or a product information sheet provided with each pair of footwear, the statement: "SEEK THE ADVICE OF THE FOOTWEAR MANUFACTURER OR DISTRIBUTOR REGARDING APPROPRIATE APPLICATION BASED ON TEST RESULTS".
